House, Box Hill South

E-Design Service, full house.

The Location:

Box Hill South.

The Brief:

This project began during one of Melbourne’s lockdowns in late 2021. My client asked for a modern-boho vibe with a touch of glamour for her open-plan kitchen/living/dining and master bedroom. My client wanted to keep the existing wallpaper in the dining room + master bedroom, along with the woven pendants and her sideboard. Everything else was sourced as new. Our aim was to maximise seating space, without compromising on valuable space, and I think we hit the nail on the head there!

The Process:

The first task of this project was to improve the spatial planning of the living/dining area. The previous owner placed their dining room in the larger space and the living room in the smaller space, which felt disproportionate. Flipping the spaces allowed for a more generous sofa and proportionate, 6-seater round dining table.

My client was drawn to a natural colour palette so all colours derived from nature. Burnt orange was the accent in the open plan area, while sage green introduced itself into the master bedroom. You’ll find lots of brass accents within the living space, with the real hero being the incredible pendant light over the kitchen island. The pendant’s beauty is reflected off the tear-shaped mirror close by, providing a double impact.

The brown vein marble coffee table, with thick cylindrical legs, makes a bold statement while remaining practical in size for cheeseboards or games. The simplistic white tv unit connects the living, dining and kitchen spaces and acts as a visual divide between the use of woods. The fluted wood in the dining table and side table works back beautifully with the new kitchen island design.

The unique master bed was custom-made for my client, to stand taller than usual so that you can really see those beautiful curves. Her art, was hand-made by yours truly and I have to say, I really loved that piece! The dark snow gum-coloured bedsides are a subtle reminder of the fluted woodwork happening downstairs.

The project was designed within a couple of weeks, but due to many covid delays, the project was only completed in mid-2022.

“I engaged Tracey to help with the interior design for my new house. I was nervous at the start as I didn’t know what to expect trying to hire a professional for the first time. Tracey was very thorough and professional with a bubbly personality. We clicked straight away.

I chose the full “E-Design service” during the lockdown. Tracey did a wonderful job putting together my dream home in Box Hill South within two weeks. It was beyond what I had imagined and you can see how much work she has put in for every little detail! Her professionalism and talent are second to none. I highly recommend Tracey if you need any advice or help with your interior needs.”
